Looking after it

Shake the sand out of the net and off the poles before it goes back in the case, and let it dry first. Sand left in the pole sections is what stops them sliding together cleanly next time, and a damp nylon net folded away for a fortnight will smell.

A 4.27m volleyball net that stands up anywhere flat.

Nylon net, painted steel poles, three height settings and a carry case. No stakes, so it works on sand, grass, a driveway or a hall floor.

A 4.27m wide volleyball net on painted steel poles, with the net in nylon.

Three marked height settings, 107cm, 120cm and 155cm, so the same net suits a beach knockabout and a serious game.

It is free standing, so it needs no stakes and works on sand, grass, tarmac or an indoor floor.

Setup is about two minutes and needs no tools.

Folds into the supplied carry case with the pole sections still threaded on a bungee cord.

Volleyball Net

Beach volleyball has one practical problem, which is that a net needs anchoring and sand does not anchor anything. Most sets solve it with long stakes that work in wet sand and pull straight out of dry sand.

Volleyball Net

This net does not use stakes at all. It stands on its own feet, which is what makes it as usable on a beach as it is on a lawn, a driveway or a hall floor.

Volleyball Net

[object Object]

The net is nylon and the poles are painted steel, which is the combination that survives salt air and being packed away damp more often than it should be.

Everything goes back into the carry case, and the pole sections stay threaded on an internal bungee cord so the set does not slowly lose parts across a summer.

Not sure yet? That is fine.

You can change your mind. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have 14 days from delivery to cancel for any reason, and a further 14 days to send it back in resaleable condition. We refund the price you paid, including standard delivery.

Frequently Asked Questions

How wide is the net?

4.27m.

How high does it go?

Three marked settings on the poles: 107cm, 120cm and 155cm.

Is that full volleyball height?

No. Competition volleyball is 2.43m for men and 2.24m for women. This is a recreational net, and 155cm is its top setting.

Why buy a lower net then?

Because almost nobody has a competition court in their garden. At these heights a mixed group of adults and children can all play the same game, which is what a portable net is for.

Will it stand up on sand?

Yes. It is free standing and uses no stakes, which is exactly why it works on a beach where stakes pull out.

Do I need to peg it down?

No pegs are needed. On a very windy beach, weighting the feet is worth doing.

Can I use it on grass?

Yes, and on tarmac, decking or an indoor floor.

How long does it take to put up?

About two minutes once you know which section goes where.

Do I need tools?

No.

What is the net made of?

Nylon.

What are the poles made of?

Painted steel.

Will salt air damage it?

Rinse the sand and salt off and let it dry. That is what keeps painted steel looking like painted steel.

Does it come with a ball?

No. This is the net and poles with a carry case.

Does it come with a carry case?

Yes, and the whole set packs into it.

Will the poles come apart in the bag?

The sections are threaded on an internal bungee cord, so they stay together.

Can I play badminton with it?

Yes. It is the same net we sell as a badminton net, and 155cm is regulation badminton height.

Can I play football tennis with it?

Yes, at the lowest setting, which is what our football tennis net is.

Can I play pickleball with it?

Yes, at the lower settings.

Is it suitable for a club or a league?

No. A league needs a full height net on proper posts. This is a garden, beach and holiday net.

How wide a space do I need?

The net is 4.27m, so allow that plus room to move at both ends. A normal garden or a stretch of beach is plenty.

Can I use it indoors?

Yes, in a hall or a big garage, provided there is height for the ball as well as the net.

Will it survive being left up all summer?

It is made for outdoor use, but it is not a permanent fixture. Leaving any portable net out through wind and rain shortens its life.

What happens if the net gets wet?

Nothing, provided you dry it before packing it away.

How do I clean it?

Shake it out, wipe the poles, let it dry. There is nothing to wash.

How heavy is it?

Light enough to carry in its case in one hand along a beach.

Will it fit in a car?

Yes, in the case, in a normal boot.

Can the net be repaired if it tears?

Small nylon tears can be repaired. Ask us first and we will tell you what we can do.

Is the height adjuster hard to use?

No. The settings are marked on the poles and it fixes at each mark.

How long does delivery take?

Five to seven days across the UK, and delivery is free on this order because it is over £75.

Can I send it back if it is not right?

Yes. It is a stock item, so the full 14 day right to change your mind applies alongside your faulty goods rights.

Playing volleyball without a court

The stake problem

Every beach volleyball set has to solve the same thing: how do you hold a net up in sand.

The usual answer is long stakes, and the usual result is that they hold in damp packed sand near the water and pull straight out of the dry stuff further up the beach, which is where everyone actually sets up.

This net avoids the question. It is free standing, with no stakes at all, so the surface stops mattering. Sand, grass, tarmac, a hall floor: it stands the same way on all of them.

Be honest about the height

Full volleyball is played at 2.43m for men and 2.24m for women. This net's top setting is 155cm, so it is not a competition net and there is no point pretending otherwise.

What it is good at is a game everyone can play. At 155cm the ball comes over fast and adults have to work. Drop it to 120cm and a game with children in it stops being one adult spiking at kids. At 107cm it becomes something closer to a rally game, which is where the long afternoons happen.

Changing setting takes seconds, so the net follows whoever is playing.

Setting it up on a beach

Three things that make the difference between an hour of play and an hour of rebuilding.

Pick your ground before you unpack. Flat, out of the main walking line, and far enough from the water that a tide change does not become a problem.

Weight the feet if it is breezy. A bag on each foot, or a stone. It is a free standing net, so wind moves it like any other.

Set the net taut, then check it after ten minutes. Nylon settles a little in the first few rallies, and one adjustment then usually holds for the rest of the day.

Packing it away without losing anything

The pole sections stay threaded on an internal bungee cord, which is the single design detail that stops these sets disappearing one piece at a time.

Shake the sand out. Sand inside a pole section is what makes it stiff and eventually stops it seating properly.

Let it dry. A nylon net packed damp will smell, and no amount of airing later fully fixes it.

Where else it gets used

The same net is sold for badminton and football tennis, and the only difference is the height it is set to. If you own it for the beach, you already own a garden badminton net and a football tennis net as well, which is worth knowing before buying a second one.
