Looking after it

Keep it indoors and dry, because MDF and damp are a one way relationship and a swollen playing surface never comes back. Wipe the top with a barely damp cloth, never soak it, and lock all eight wheels before anyone plays. Fold it with two people and check the locking mechanisms engage properly each time.

Eight Locking WheelsMoves easily, then stays put

A full size 9ft table with a 12mm top, and it folds.

274 x 153 x 76cm, eight wheels with eight locks, a playback position for solo practice, and bats, balls, net and cover in the box.

A full size 9ft indoor table tennis table, 274 x 153 x 76cm, with a 12mm MDF playing surface.

It separates into two halves for storage and folds with a quick locking system.

One half folds upright on its own to give a playback wall for solo practice.

Eight wheels make it movable, and eight individual locks hold it still while you play.

Supplied with two bats, three balls, a net and post set, and a storage cover.

Table Tennis Table

Table thickness is the specification that decides whether a table tennis table is fun or frustrating, and 12mm is where an indoor table starts being properly playable.

Table Tennis Table

Thinner tops deaden the bounce unevenly across the surface, so the ball behaves differently near the edge than in the middle, and a game becomes a series of accidents.

Table Tennis Table

This is a full 9ft table, 274 x 153 x 76cm, which means the game you play on it is the game, not a scaled down version of it.

The folding system is what makes a full size table liveable at home. It separates into two halves and folds up, and eight wheels move it, with eight locks that hold it once it is where you want it.

The playback position is the underrated feature. Fold one half upright and you have a rebound wall, which turns a two person game into something a child can practise alone for an hour.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it full size?

Yes, 9ft x 5ft, 274 x 153 x 76cm.

How thick is the top?

12mm MDF.

Is 12mm thick enough?

For a home, a school or a club social table, yes. It gives a consistent bounce across the surface, which is what thinner tops do not.

Can I use it outdoors?

No. It is an indoor table with an MDF top, and MDF swells permanently once it gets damp.

Can it live in a garage?

Only a dry one. An unheated garage that gets condensation will eventually ruin the top.

Does it fold?

Yes. It separates into two halves and folds up for storage.

What is the playback position?

One half folds upright so the ball rebounds off it. You can practise alone against it.

How much space do I need to play?

The table is 274cm long, and you want at least two metres of clear space at each end, plus room at the sides.

How much space does it need folded?

Folded it stands upright and takes a fraction of the floor space. Measure your ceiling height as well, because a folded table is tall.

Does it have wheels?

Eight, each with its own locking mechanism.

Will it move while we play?

Not with the locks engaged, and locking all eight is the habit worth having.

Can I level it on an uneven floor?

Yes, the feet are adjustable.

What comes with it?

Two bats, three balls, a net and post set and a storage cover.

Are the bats any good?

They are perfectly good for casual play. Anyone playing seriously will want their own bat eventually, which is true of every table sold with bats.

Is it hard to assemble?

It arrives largely built. Expect to attach the net and unfold it. Two people makes it far easier.

Can one person fold it?

It is possible but not sensible. It is a full size table. Use two people.

Is it suitable for a school?

Yes, it is described as suitable for homes, schools and sports centres.

Is it suitable for a club?

For social and training use, yes. Competition tables are typically 22mm or 25mm tops.

How heavy is it?

It is a full size table, so it has real weight. That is why it has eight wheels.

Will it fit through a normal doorway?

Folded and on its wheels it usually will, but measure your doorway and the folded dimensions before delivery day.

How do I clean the top?

A barely damp cloth, then dry. Never soak it and never use solvent cleaners.

What if a ball dents the surface?

A ball will not. Something dropped on it might, and MDF does not recover from a dent.

Can children use it?

Yes. Adults should do the folding, since a folding table is the one real hazard here.

Can I use it as a table for other things?

People do use them for parties and crafts. Anything wet or heavy on an MDF top is a risk you are taking with the playing surface.

Does the cover keep dust off?

Yes, that is what it is for, and it is worth using if the table lives in a garage or utility room.

Are replacement bats and balls available?

Standard bats and 40mm balls fit any table. We do not currently stock them separately.

Is the net adjustable?

Check the current photos for the net post design in stock.

How long will it last?

Kept indoors and dry, years. Damp is the only thing that reliably kills an MDF table.

How long does delivery take?

Five to seven days across the UK. This is well over £75, so delivery is free.

Can I return it?

Yes, unused and in a saleable state with its packaging. It is a stock item, so the full 14 day right to change your mind applies alongside your faulty goods rights.

Fitting a full size table into a real house

4 min read The Outdoor Sports Company

Measure the room, not the table

Everyone measures the table. The table is 274cm long and that is not the number that matters.

Playing space: allow at least two metres behind each end. Less than that and every long rally ends at a wall.

Side space: a metre each side keeps wide shots playable.

Total: something close to 7m x 4m for comfortable play. Less works, and the game changes: shorter rallies, more close to the table play, which some people prefer anyway.

Where a folding table actually goes

The folding is the reason a full size table works in a house at all.

Garage. The most common home, and the caveat is damp. A garage that gets condensation on the walls will get it on the table.

Loft room or garden room. Ideal, if you can get it up there. Measure the stairs first.

Dining room, folded between uses. Genuinely workable with eight wheels, and the reason people buy this design rather than a fixed table.

Check ceiling height for the folded position. Folded upright, the table is tall, and low ceilings are the thing people forget.

The playback position is worth using

Fold one half up and you have a rebound wall.

For a child learning, this is the single most valuable feature on the table. Solo practice builds consistency in a way that games against an equally inexperienced sibling do not, and it can be done for ten minutes at a time without anyone else being available.

For adults it is a warm up tool, and it is decent for practising serve and third ball placement.

Looking after an MDF top

One rule, and it covers almost everything: keep it dry.

Barely damp cloth to clean. Then dry it.

Never leave anything wet on it. A glass, a coat, a window left open above it.

Use the cover. Especially in a garage, and especially over winter.

A swollen MDF top is not repairable, and it is the way almost every home table eventually dies.

Folding it safely

Two people, every time. Check that the locks engage on both halves before letting go, and keep children clear while it is moving.

It is the only genuinely hazardous thing this table does, and it is entirely avoidable.
