Looking after it

Roll the ladder rather than bundling it, because twisted rungs are what make a ladder lie crooked and trip people. Count the stakes back into the bag every time, since a steel stake left in a lawn finds a mower eventually. Rinse mud off the cones and let everything dry before it is bagged.

A ladder, twelve cones and a kick trainer in one bag.

6m agility ladder with 12 rungs, six yellow and six orange cones, a kick trainer, four steel stakes and a carry bag. Everything a garden session needs.

[object Object]

The agility ladder is 6m long with 12 rungs, for footwork, acceleration and turning drills.

Twelve cones in two colours, six yellow and six orange, which is what makes split and reaction drills possible.

A football kick trainer for solo practice when there is nobody to pass with.

Four steel stakes hold the ladder flat, and everything packs into the carry bag included.

Football Training Kit

The gap between a player who trains twice a week and one who also does twenty minutes in the garden is enormous, and it is almost entirely footwork.

Football Training Kit

This kit covers the three things a garden session needs. A ladder for foot speed and coordination, cones for shape and direction, and a kick trainer so that ball work is possible without a second person.

Football Training Kit

The ladder is 6m with 12 rungs, which is long enough for a genuine run through rather than three steps and a stop. Steel stakes hold it flat, and a ladder that stays flat is a ladder nobody trips on.

Football Training Kit

Two cone colours is a small detail that changes what you can practise. Call a colour and the drill becomes a reaction drill, which is closer to a match than any pre planned pattern.

Football Training Kit

The kick trainer is the piece that gets used most by children, because it returns the ball. Solo practice that returns the ball is practice that continues.

Everything goes into the carry bag, which is what stops a training kit becoming twelve cones in a hedge.

Not sure yet? That is fine.

You can change your mind. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have 14 days from delivery to cancel for any reason, and a further 14 days to send it back in resaleable condition. We refund the price you paid, including standard delivery.

If it turns up faulty, damaged or not as described, that is on us. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 covers you, we pay the return postage, and you can have a repair, a replacement or your money back. Read the full detail on our refunds and returns page, or ask us anything before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is in the kit?

A 6m agility ladder with 12 rungs, 12 cones (six yellow and six orange), a football kick trainer, four steel stakes and a carry bag.

How long is the ladder?

6m, with 12 rungs.

Can I change the rung spacing?

Agility ladders of this type have movable rungs, so the spacing can be set to suit the drill and the age of the player.

What are the stakes for?

Holding the ladder flat on grass. A ladder that shifts underfoot is the one people trip over.

Do I need the stakes on a hard surface?

No, and you should not use them there. On tarmac the ladder lies flat on its own.

How many cones and why two colours?

Twelve, six of each colour. Two colours let you call a colour mid drill, which turns a pattern into a reaction exercise.

What is the kick trainer for?

Solo ball work. It returns the ball so a child can practise touch and control without anyone else.

Is it suitable for children?

Yes, that is the main use, and it works for adults too.

What age is it good for?

From primary school age upwards. Set the ladder rungs closer for younger children.

Can adults use the ladder?

Yes. Agility ladders are a standard part of adult conditioning.

What is it made of?

Heavy duty nylon and PE.

Will the cones survive being stood on?

Standard PE training cones flex rather than shatter. Repeatedly driving over them is another matter.

Can I use it indoors?

The ladder and cones work in a hall. The kick trainer needs the space a ball needs.

Does it come with a ball?

No, a ball is not included.

How much space do I need?

The ladder alone needs about eight metres to run through properly. Cone drills fit any garden.

Can I use it on artificial grass?

Yes, without the stakes.

What drills should I start with?

Two feet in each rung, then one foot per rung, then lateral in and out. Master those before anything complicated.

How long should a session be?

Twenty minutes of quality beats an hour of tired repetition, particularly for footwork.

Does it come with a drill guide?

Check what is included in the current stock photos. There are hundreds of ladder drills freely available online.

Will it fit in the carry bag easily?

Yes, and rolling the ladder rather than bundling it is what makes it fit and keeps it straight.

Can I leave it out in the garden?

Best not. The stakes get lost, the cones get mown, and the ladder degrades in UV.

How do I clean it?

Rinse the mud off, let everything dry, then bag it.

Are the stakes sharp?

They are steel ground stakes, so they are pointed. Count them back into the bag, always, especially if a mower will pass over that lawn.

Can I buy the pieces separately?

It is sold as a kit. Cones and ladders are widely available individually if you need replacements.

Is the ladder trip proof?

Nothing is. Staked flat and used sensibly, it is fine. Rungs that have twisted are what catch a toe.

Is it good for other sports?

Agility ladders and cones are used across rugby, basketball, tennis and general fitness.

Is it good for goalkeepers?

Yes, ladder work is a staple of keeper footwork training.

How heavy is the bag?

Light. A child can carry the whole kit.

How long does delivery take?

Five to seven days across the UK. Under £75 there is a £25 delivery charge.

Can I return it?

Yes, unused and in a saleable state. It is a stock item, so the full 14 day right to change your mind applies alongside your faulty goods rights.

Twenty minutes in the garden that actually improves a player

4 min read The Outdoor Sports Company

Why footwork, and why at home

Club training is mostly about the team. Shape, patterns, set pieces, a match at the end.

The individual things, foot speed, first touch, turning on the correct foot, are best drilled alone and often. Twenty minutes, three times a week, in a garden, will do more for a young player than an extra session a month.

This kit exists because those twenty minutes need a ladder, some cones and something that returns the ball.

A session that works

Five minutes of ladder. Two feet in, one foot in, in and out laterally. Slow and correct beats fast and messy, always.

Five minutes of cone work. A simple slalom with the ball, both feet, then the same again turning at the end.

Five minutes with the kick trainer. Touch and return, alternating feet.

Five minutes of something they choose. This is the part that makes them come back tomorrow.

Using the two cone colours

This is the most underused thing in the box.

Set two colours as two gates. Call a colour as the player starts moving and they have to react rather than execute a pattern they already knew. That single change makes a drill look like football instead of like a dance.

For younger children, calling colours is also the difference between a drill and a game.

Ladder technique that matters

Eyes up. A player looking at the ladder is learning nothing that transfers.

Land on the balls of the feet. Quiet feet, quick feet.

Arms working. Footwork is a whole body movement and stiff arms slow everything down.

Stop when it gets sloppy. Fatigued footwork drills teach fatigued footwork.

The stakes, seriously

Four steel ground stakes go into a lawn and are invisible from three metres away.

Count them out, count them back in, every session. A stake left in grass and found later by a lawnmower is the one genuine hazard in this box.
