Wipe the vinyl down with a damp cloth and mild soap, then dry it. The cover is non absorbent, so nothing soaks in, but leaving it folded while damp traps moisture between the panels. Store it flat or folded, never with anything heavy on top, which is what compresses foam permanently.

Handles On Each PanelCarries like a case

A folding 180cm tumbling mat with a handle on every panel.

Firm high density EPE foam under an 18 oz vinyl cover, 5cm thick, folding into three panels that carry like a case.

A three panel folding mat, 180 x 60cm open and 5cm thick.

The core is firm high density EPE foam, so it cushions without swallowing your balance.

The cover is 18 oz vinyl, puncture resistant, non absorbent and textured on both sides so it does not slide on the floor.

It folds to roughly a 60cm square, 15cm deep, with a handle on each panel.

Used for tumbling and floor work, and equally for yoga, pilates, aerobics and martial arts.

Gymnastics Mat

The difference between a mat that helps and a mat that gets in the way is firmness, not thickness.

Gymnastics Mat

Soft foam feels reassuring underfoot and then absorbs the push you need for a cartwheel or a hold, so balance work becomes harder rather than safer. This one uses high density EPE, which compresses under an impact and stays stable under a foot.

Gymnastics Mat

[object Object]

The cover does two jobs. It is 18 oz vinyl, so it does not absorb sweat and wipes clean, and it is textured on both faces, so the mat does not slide on a wooden floor and you do not slide on the mat.

Folding is the reason it gets used. Three panels, a handle on each, down to a 60cm square that stands in a wardrobe. A mat that has to be dragged out of the garage gets used once a month.

Not sure yet? That is fine.

You can change your mind. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have 14 days from delivery to cancel for any reason, and a further 14 days to send it back in resaleable condition. We refund the price you paid, including standard delivery.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size is it?

180 x 60cm open, 5cm thick. Folded it is roughly a 60cm square, 15cm deep.

How thick is the padding?

5cm, which is 2 inches.

What foam is inside?

High density EPE foam, chosen to be firm rather than soft.

Why does firm foam matter?

Soft foam absorbs the push you need for balance and tumbling work. Firm foam cushions the landing without moving under your foot.

What is the cover made of?

18 oz vinyl, puncture resistant and non absorbent.

Will it slide on a wooden floor?

The vinyl is textured on both faces specifically to stop that.

Is the surface slippery underfoot?

No, the top face is textured too, which is the point of the double sided finish.

How does it fold?

Into three panels, each with its own handle, so it carries like a case.

Will it stay folded?

Yes, it holds the fold. The handles line up when it is closed.

Is it suitable for children?

It is widely used for children's gymnastics at home. As with any gymnastics practice, an adult should be supervising.

Is one mat enough for tumbling?

For basic tumbling, rolls, handstands and floor work at home, yes. For anything with height in it you want more area, which usually means more than one mat.

Can I buy more than one and lay them side by side?

Yes, that is how most people build a run at home.

Can I use it for yoga?

Yes. It is thicker than a yoga mat, which suits floor and knee work.

Can I use it for pilates?

Yes, and the firmness is an advantage for it.

Can I use it for martial arts?

Yes, it is used for MMA and martial arts practice at home. It is not a competition tatami.

Can I use it for exercise videos and aerobics?

Yes, that is one of its most common uses.

Will it protect a hard floor underneath?

It sits between you and the floor, so it takes the impact of knees and elbows. It is not a subfloor protector for dropped weights.

Can I drop weights on it?

No. Foam and vinyl are not made for that and a dropped dumbbell will split the cover.

Can I use it outdoors?

On a patio or lawn for a session, yes. Wipe the grass off before it is folded. It should not live outdoors.

How do I clean it?

Damp cloth and mild soap, then dry it. Nothing soaks in because the vinyl is non absorbent.

Does sweat damage it?

No. Wipe it off after a session so it does not sit on the seams.

How should I store it?

Folded or flat, with nothing heavy on top. Weight left on foam over months is what flattens it permanently.

How heavy is it?

Light enough to carry one handed by a panel handle, which is what the handles are for.

Will it fit in a car?

Folded, yes, easily in a boot or on a back seat.

Does it smell when it arrives?

New vinyl can smell for a day or two. Unfold it in a ventilated room and it goes.

Is the vinyl safe for children?

The cover is lead free and non toxic, which is what the 18 oz vinyl specification covers.

Can I leave it out permanently?

Yes, if you have the space. Most people fold it, which is the whole reason for the three panel design.

What colour is it?

Colour options vary by batch, so check the product photos for what is in stock.

How long does delivery take?

Five to seven days across the UK. This order is over £75, so delivery is free.

Can I return it?

Yes, it is a stock item, so the full 14 day right to change your mind applies alongside your faulty goods rights, provided it comes back in a saleable state.

Choosing a gymnastics mat for home practice

4 min read The Outdoor Sports Company

Thickness is not the spec that matters

The instinct with mats is thicker equals safer, and it is wrong past a point.

What actually keeps you upright is a surface that gives under impact and stays put under a foot. That is density, not depth. A thick soft mat wobbles, which is dangerous during a handstand and useless during a hold.

Five centimetres of firm high density foam is the working combination for home tumbling, floor work and conditioning.

Where one mat is enough, and where it is not

Enough: rolls, handstands, bridges, cartwheels with a spot, stretching, conditioning, yoga, pilates, aerobics, martial arts drills.

Not enough: anything with real height or a run up. That needs a mat run, which is several mats laid together, and at that point you are building a home gymnastics space rather than buying a mat.

Most families buy one, use it hard, and add a second when the child's skills outgrow the first.

The folding is the feature

This sounds like packaging and it is not.

A mat that lives rolled behind a sofa gets used most days. A mat that lives in the garage gets used at weekends, then stops.

Three panels, a handle on each, folded to a 60cm square that stands upright in a wardrobe: that is the difference between equipment and clutter.

Floors

Wooden and laminate. The textured underside is what stops the mat travelling across the room during a session. Check it is sitting flat before starting.

Carpet. Fine, and the mat still does the work. On thick carpet the whole thing feels softer, so balance work is slightly harder.

Concrete or garage floors. The mat handles knees and elbows. It does not turn a concrete floor into a sprung one, so keep landings controlled.

Looking after vinyl

Nothing complicated, and two things worth doing.

Wipe it after sweaty sessions. The cover does not absorb anything, so what is on it stays on it until it is wiped.

Never store it under weight. Foam does not recover from months under a box. Standing it on end in a corner costs nothing and keeps it firm.
